Norwich Community Backpack Program is Ready for New School Year

Project Outreach students filled over 175 backpacks with school supplies for Norwich students in need for the start of school.

This year's annual drive was made possible through partnerships with the Eastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Dime Bank, Eastern Savings Bank, Savings Institute Financial Group Foundation, Rotary Community Corps of Norwich, The Norwich Bulletin, Tantor Media, and Norwich Alderwoman Joanne Philbrick.

SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBLITIES

To assist teachers in technical aspects of ceramic production.

SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):

Fire kilns (bisque and glaze),

Recycle clay, use of pug mill

Keep clay studio organized

Maintenance of machines and tools

Preparation of glazes, slips, stains

Storage of materials, student work

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Experience as a clay artist/technician or experience as an artist and/or studio technician. Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to take on new responsibilities and be able to interact effectively with students.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

This is a Ten-Month Position with no benefits.

Students Recieve Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarships

On Wednesday, September 14, seniors Tayla Willson and Junior Dufort were named recipients of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. scholarships. The $20,000 scholarships are given by the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Trust Fund of Greater New London County.

Tayla and Junior will be officially recognized October 20, at the 35th Annual Scholarship Dinner at the Mystic Marriott in Groton.
